Victoria Lodging

Just wanted some feedback on the Quality Resort SeaView (Cordova Bay area) and how far it is to Victoria attractions (time & distance). We were debating whether to stay there or try to find a hotel closer to downtown. We plan to visit downtown area & Butchart Gardens.

Since no one has answered...
I have never heard of anyone staying there, which is amazing considering how many years it has existed (under another name). I think the location is lovely, on the side of wooded Mt. Doug and across the road from the cliff above the ocean.

There are a few different routes you could take by car to Victoria's Inner Harbour but I'm guessing any one might take 20-25 minutes or so. The down side is having to find a place to park. The View Street Parkade downtown is central and you can pick up first-hour-free tickets in many stores. (If going there, stay in the right lane on Blanshard St. and it will take you right onto View St. The parkade is just around the corner on the left. If, however, you want to drive right to the Inner Harbour, I recommend keeping to the centre lane of Blanshard through town.) On the other hand, Cordova Bay would be handy for Butchart's Gardens, Mattick's Farm or country drives and, of course, the Mt. Doug viewpoint. Royal Oak and Broadmead shopping centres are nearby but not really within walking distance.

Thanks so much for the info. Cordova Bay sounds like a very pretty area and more relaxing than staying downtown.

we stayed at a bed and breakfast in the Rockland area and it is beuatiful there -- It was right next door to the governors mansion which has gardens open for free all day long. And quiet and the place had their own gardens. Really nice and walking around that area was amazing -- all the gardens people had. It was Fairholme Manor if you want to check it out. It is as nice as it looks on the web.

srh - the inner harbour in victoria would be the place to stay. we always stay at the harbour towers hotel...most of the rooms have a little kitchen in addition to the usual hotel stuff. the hotel is within walking distance to the harbour itself as well as the museum, parliament bldgs and the downtown shopping area. if you get a room facing the harbour, the view is beautiful. and the area is not noisy at all.
