Victoria in P.M. from Alaskan crusie
 

In a coupel of weeks we're doing an inside passage cruise from Seattle. The last port is Victoria. We arrive 6 P.M., with 2 young kids. The excursions are expensive. Any recommendations?

Need more information.... are you just overnighting in Victoria or will you be there for a day or two? You are looking for alternatives to the excursions offered by the cruise company?

What a stupid time to arrive in a port! The cruise lines are only doing it to satisfy the legal need to stop at a non-US port when the cruise begins and ends at a US port. Victoria is a charming city but for the few hours you'll be there the best and least expensive thing to do is stroll about 8 blocks to the Inner Harbour area which is the centre of Victoria's tourist activity. You can take a horse drawn carraige tour of the area or explore on your own. There's lots of interesting places from Museums to shops along Government Street so you shouldn't be bored. It won't get dark till well after 9 and the ship probably leaves around 11PM. Again - what a stupid way to visit Victoria!

GaryA, I totally agree it is a stupid stop. I think we will limit ourselves to the inner harbor area. Maybe something will be open, or we'll just look around for a bit. Thanks.

Janey, maybe you'll get enough of a taste of Victoria to want to go back when you have more time (and to see Vanocuver too)!
You will probably find plenty to see/do in the Inner Harbour for such a short time.
