Victoria Hotels
 

Anyone have any recommendations for hotels in Victoria to stay. Going at the end of July. Would like one that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for parking since we will have a rental car? Any help would be appreciated.

It depends on what sort of hotel you want to stay in. I don't know anything about the more luxurious accommodations in the city. At the more economical end, although it's about 20 minutes from downtown, we quite enjoy the Quality Inn Waddling Dog. Have a look at their website. It's a motel, so parking is free. One to avoid unless price is your only consideration would be the Travellers Inn. They have a number of locations and advertise extensively, but there has been a lot of negative feedback on this site about them.

The Chateau Victoria is one of my favorite places because of their one bedroom suites which are ery spacious, (ask for a microwave), and the parking is free. It's less than a block from the Empress and the Inner Harbour and has two restaurants, an indoor pool, basic exercise equipment and unfortunately does not have air cond. in all the rooms so if you do stay there ask for a one bedroom suite with air or you will need to keep your windows open at night and it can be noisy. Don't let anyone tell you that you don't need a/c in Victoria. The end of July can be quite warm.

The Chateau Victoria is OK, but I like the Royal Scot better (have stayed at both of them). It is about a block from the inner harbour on Quebec Street. The rooms are spacious and nicely done, and one or two bedroom suites are available. Parking is free.

Just returned from Victoria and I would recommend hotels on the Inner Harbour for convenience - we stayed at the Hotel Grand Pacific - excellent location right next to the Parl. buildings, free parking, expensive (I didn't have to pay!!), next door is a Day's Inn and Best Western, Harour House across the street. The location on Belleville is great - it's quiet, yet very close to downtown (few minutes walk). I thought Traveller's Inn would be a hassle - have to rely on a car.

I have stayed at the Hotel Grand Pacific and managed to get a suite for $139/night. Two rooms overlooking the parliament buildings. I was there on business and got a business rate. But it was later in the year (Remembrance Day to be exact so in November) and the hotel wasn't full. Beautiful room
