Victoria after a cruise

We are going on one of the many Alaska cruises this summer and would like to go to Victoria for a few days after we get back. Questions- Can we rent a car near Pier 30? How far is it to Port Angeles for the ferry. Our ship gets in at 7 A.M. can we make the 12 o'clock ferry? If we can't make that ferry are there things to do a nd B&B's in the area so that we could go on the early ferry the next morning? Should we make reservations and if so do we have a seperate line to get on the ferry? I was trying to research this and got very frustrated and confused so I could use some advice.

I'm not sure if any of the car rental agencies have an office or kiosk at Pier 30 but you can either take a taxi to one of the downtown rental offices or maybe the car rental place will come pick you up.

It takes about 2.5 hours to get from Seattle to Port Angeles but you have to factor in the ferry schedule from Seattle to Bainbridge so you want to allow a good 3-4 hours. The unknown is how long it will take you to disembark from the ship. But there should be a sailing from Port Angeles to Victoria around 5 PM so why not aim for that one? And yes, definitely make a reservation for that ferry so you don't have to line up for the first come, first served spaces.

And if you don't make the later ferry or don't want to take it for some reason, there's a whole national park out near Port Angeles, so yes, there are things to do and places to stay ;-).

We did this but it was Vancouver. Our car rental picked us up at the dock. You do want to make reservations for the ferry and for us it was a 15.00 reservation fee but worth it.

Another thing with the reservations...you still need to be there 60 minutes before sailing. They do check the time and if you arrive less than the 60 minutes you lose your spot.
