Vancouver - while pregnant?

Hi! Fellow-fodorites!
I want to take a 4-7 day vacation with my DH before our first baby arrives! :-) I am considering Vancouver (never been there) but I will be 6 months pregnant in June when I plan to go. My DH is a little apprehensive about going to Vancouver because most of the activites that we can do there seem to involve some form of physical exertion.. I am ok with moderate to easy hikes and walking but obviously cannot kayak, do ATV rides or similar things. Would you folks still suggest Vancouver? Or any other place nearby that would be relaxing for a 6-month pregnant lady? :-)
Any other suggestion along the California West Coast is also welcome (except South Cali coz I am from there!)

You don't have to hike or kayak or ski to enjoy yourself in the lower BC mainland. Go to Vancouver...poke around Granville Island. Catch an AquaBus and ride around the harbor (actually False Creek). Poke around Stanley Park as much as you want to. Visit Queen Elizabeth Park if you are into flowers. People-watch downtown...it's a multi-cultural city and the passing parade is fascinating. Go to Gastown...all tourists do. If you have a car and time permits, drive to Harrison Hot Springs (dunno about hot springs and pregnancy). There are ethnic neighborhoods of all kinds, each fascinating in its own way. Doing all this, ride the SkyTrain...get a day pass. Much more scenic that what I have seen of rapid transit in SoCal.

Last summer, we were over in North Van to celebrate my sister's 60th. One of my nieces was six months pregnant with her second.
I commented on the nice sunny day for the occasion. My niece replied that she and her hubby had spent the morning doing freerides down Grouse. She then said sshhh, don't tell my doctor.

Check that out for a 'mild' activity.

Thank you, Bobmrg and icithecat! What is North Van (or where is it?) and Grouse? :">

"North Van" is north Vancouver...over the Lion's Gate Bridge. There is a great suspension bridge at Capilano that you should try some day when you are not pregnant (that's why I didn't mention it). Grouse Mountain is something I should have remembered, because we are going up there in June. In summer, the ski lifts take you up for a fabulous view of the lower mainland and, on a good day, Mount Baker near Bellingham.

Hi you may also want to check out Granville Island Market, Stanley Park ect. You could rent a bicycle built for two{or 2 1/2} and let your hubby do all the work around the Stanley Park sea wall. June is a great month in Vancouver because it is never Too hot. It is a great city for strolling.

Thanks all for your ideas. looks like my plan got over-ruled by hubby, so we are going to Waikiki, Oahu instead! He thinks sitting by the beach is going to be more fun for the baby in the belly than strolling in beautiful Vancouver 8-| !!! So will save these tips for next time!!

If given a choice between Hawaii and Vancouver for a certain period of time, I'd still pick Vancouver.

Life Magazine recently came out with a publication called

"Heaven on Earth - 100 must-see destinations"

... and there were just two of them in Canada... Vancouver, and Churchill, Manitoba (where Polar Bears are the central appeal)

Geez, it is really bad when a pregnant woman doesn't get a bigger vote than her husband.
