Vancouver: where to rent a car with a manual transmission?
 

Does anyone know a car rental company in Vancouver that has a vehicle (preferably compact or sub-compact) with a manual transmission?

I live in Vancouver and don't own a car, but have the urge to rent one with a standard transmission and hit the road...every company I've called so far has only automatics.

You're looking at a private rental I've never seen a standard transmission in a rental car here.

Have you checked all the smaller one man companies?

Maybe your local garage can help- sometimes they'll rent out the '<i>loaners</i>' they have.

If you are looking for a manual shift, my reaction is Lots of Luck. I never saw a rental car in the US or Canada that had a stick shift. They are the norm in Europe but I have never seen one in Canada.

Sam - I hadn't thought of local garages. That's a good idea. I'm getting desperate: that vision of myself &quot;popping the clutch and slipping sticks&quot; (or whatever the Bucket T song says) is getting stronger. It's been a long time.
