Vancouver Visit
Will be in Vancouver first weekend in April. Is it better to take your car on the ferry to Victoria or can you get public transportation when you get off the ferry?
|
I'm sure you can take public transit, or at least board some sort of Greyhound charter bus, but I prefer taking the car. Me and my boyfriend headed out to Victoria about 3 weeks ago, and having the car was really handy as we could explore other towns (like Sidney, etc) along the way to Victoria. The drive from the ferry terminal to Victoria takes about half an hour.

You can take a bus from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria. But if you get dropped off at the ferry terminal, you can also arrange to take the bus right on the ferry. The ferry counter is open for a brief time at the beginning of the sailing. They will announce it. Public transportation has one advantage - you won't get stuck in a line up.

Or you can get a regular transit bus on the other side. At Swartz Bay take the #70 bus into Victoria (2 zones, $2.50 adult fare). From Tsawwassen catch bus #640 and transfer at the Ladner Exchange to #601.

Take your car.

Do you really only have a week-end? If you take your car you could have the choice of taking a different route back to Vancouver. For example, go out of Twassen(sp?) but come back through Horseshoe Bay and take a detour to see Whistler before heading back to Vancouver. Not knowing anything else about your trip I just thought I'd throw that in for consideration.
