Vancouver to Victoria to Seattle
 

We have a rental car and would like to know the shortest way to get to Victoria for an overnight stay and then leave Victoria and head to Seattle. We understand some ferries don't take cars. We want to take it. Would appreciate the input. Thank you

Ferries operated by BC Ferries between Vancouver and Victoria take cars. There is a ferry operated by Washington State Ferries that goes between Sidney (just north of Victoria) and Seattle, that also accommodates cars - check their website for further info, schedules, etc.

Decided to drive instead of ferries to Seattle. Any suggestions please.

I'm curious. This started as a Vancouver to Victoria to Seattle thread. How do you plan to get to or from Victoria driving but without using a ferry?

Thanks for your question. We don't know the area and would look forward to any advice we receive. I have a lot of luggage with us as we are going to a wedding at the gorge in Oregon. So we need to have a car rental. I am not able to do too much walking. So please gladly help us if you can. Thank you.

Victoria is on Vancouver Island, so the only way to reach it is via ferry or float plane. If you have a lot of luggage with you, the ferry is really the best option. While it is possible, certainly, to drive from Vancouver to Seattle, you'd then have to take the ferry back from Victoria to get back to the mainland. Seems to me that really the least time-consuming way to do it would be to take the ferry from Sidney. Any particular reason you don't want to do that? It's quite a lovely trip.

You will indeed have a wonderful trip. Once on that ferry from Sidney to Seattle we saw a pod of Orcas playing; they stopped the boat for quite a while so that we could watch them and not disturb them. It was a magical experience. Hope you enjoy your holiday.

We did take the BC ferry between Vancouver and Victoria with our car. The ferry ride was very pleasant and enjoyed a decent breakfast aboard. Leaving Victoria we took the Washington State Ferry from Sidney which also provided a great trip. Thank you for your comments. Very appreciative.
