Vancouver to victoria

Any suggestions on the best way to Victoria without using a car? I heard the greyhound is not a bad way to go.

Pacific Coach Lines provides bus service from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria including the 95 minutes ferry ride through the Gulf Islands. Here is their schedule:

There is also float plane service on Harbour Air from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria.

If you can justify the cost, the sea plane has to be one of those expeiences of a lifetime. We drove and took the ferry (return) which wrote off the best part of two days.

Next time we visit we will take the sea plane.

I also vote for the sea plane splurge. You'll save 4 hours (each way) over the bus/ferry trip which when time is limited can be very valuable.

I took the PCL bus round trip and it was easy as can be. It did take a full half day each way, though, so if you can afford the sea plane I would definitely check that out.

Why not do one way sea plane and one way coach. You will get the best of both sceanery wise.

Having done the ferry trip countless times over the many years and the flight a number of times I would vote for the ferry trip every time. You won't see Orcas on the flight but you might very well on the ferry. And if you're really lucky, the ferry captain might slow down so you can go out on the deck and have a really good look. No whales ? No problem. The trip through the Gulf Islands is gorgeous, and Active Pass is a superb portion of the trip. Any time of the year the ferry ride is well worth doing. Forget the seaplane or the helijet unless you are on business and in a rush. If you are on a pleasure trip, go the slow route and enjoy some world class scenery.
