vancouver to jasper ro calgary
My wife and I will be flying to Vancouver on July 23 and flying out from Calgary on July 31. We plan to see vancouver, BANFF, Jasper and Calgary. This is the first time we are traveling in Canada. Appreciate the suggested scenic route and possible breaks.

Have you already booked/paid for the Calgary flight?
I'd fly to Vancouver, see Vancouver and then take the ViaRail Canadian to Jasper. Rent a car in Jasper and see that area and the area around Banff and then return the car to Jasper and take another Canadian to Edmonton to fly home.
I just don't get it why everyone thinks the only way to get to the beautiful Canadian Rockies is to fly into or out of Calgary.

Our tentative plan is
3 nights in vancouver ( 23,24 and 25)
drive to revelstoke via kelowana and break at revelstoke ( 26th night)
could not decide if we have to drive all the way to jasper on 27th break at jasper on 27th night drive back on 28th to BANFF on 28th and stay 28th and 29th night BNAFF
or stay at BANFF 27th, jasper28th come back and stay 29th at BANFF. appreciate the suggestion

We did the same trip three years ago. I am not sure that you need to go to Jasper.We took a little longer driving to Banff and went to the wineries in the Okanagan Valley. You can see lots without that side trip to Jasper. We drove as far towards Jasper as the Columbia Ice Fields and did a tour there. It was great. You are walking on a glacier with an amazing tour guide. Enjoy your trip. It is SO Beautiful. We also had a short visit to Canmore which is much less commercial and touristy than Banff.

Your timeline is very short for seeing the Rockies.
I would agree that I would spend one night between Vancouver & the Rockies, then go to Banff. That gives you three nights in Banff, so you have a day to drive part way on the Icefields and another day for explorations. That will just barely scratch the surface of the Rockies.
Otherwise you will be doing a lot of driving and not much seeing. Jasper is pretty, but you won't have time to actually see any of the sites given your timeline. I love Jasper, but strongly suggest flying in and out of Calgary to see the Rockies. Edmonton is great for living, but not much for tourists and a pretty long boring train ride or drive to the city from the Rockies. Getting to the Calgary Airport is much quicker so you have more time to see the sights.
