Vancouver or Victoria

My parents are flying to Seattle the first week in June. They are active folks who live in Florida. They seem to be set on vancouver (my Dad has been there)< i suggest Victoria. Their plan is to fly to Seattle, spend some days here drive up to Vancouver or take the Victoria Clipper to Victoria and the drive back to Seattle for a day and drive to San Francisco.
What would you recommend...Vancouver or Victoria. They are going to be seeing 2 cities (Seattle & San Fran) and spending A LOT of time int he car. I thought that maybe the clipper would be more interesting (both are good boat people) Suggestions?

Depends on whether the emphasis is on the journey or the destination. The boat trip to Victoria is definitely more scenic than the drive to Vancouver. However, there's a big difference between the 2 cities. Victoria is a small, picturesque city geared toward tourists. Vancouver is a large city (roughly the same size as Seattle), with touristy things + fabulous shopping, more diverse restaurants, and more choice of everything.

How much time were they looking to spend in either city?
I would suggest driving to Vancouver and spending the majority of time there and then taking the ferry(you can drive onto the ferry)over to Victoria for a day or two. The ferry ride is very relaxing and scenic and takes approximately 1.5 hours one way.

I think if they want to go to Vancouver, they should go to Vancouver. They can see a lot by foot and, unlike Victoria, there are so many great places to eat. I wouldn't call the Clipper trip that interesting.
