Vancouver Hotel Suggestions

We will be flying into Seattle on Sept 3 for a 3 week vacation that includes the Canadian Rockies, Montana, and Idaho. We will have a car and will not spend time in Seattle on this trip as we've been there many times. A few friends have suggested staying in Port Townsend, enroute to Vancouver. Once in Vancouver, we are considering staying at either the O'Canada House B&B (has no air conditioning but didn't think you would need it in early Sept?) or the Fairmont on Georgia St. Is anyone familiar with either of these properties and if so, comments would be greatly appreciated.

Not familiar with the 2 you mention but we stayed at Blue Horizon and loved it. Large room at good price. Right on Robson. Get one of the higher floors - excellent views. Great breakfast in restaurant downstairs. We will stay there if ever in Vancouver again. If price is not a problem, then I would vote for Pan Pacific.

I do not know the O'Canada House B & B, but I have stayed at the Fairmont on Georgia Street which is the Hotel Vancouver. It is a traditional, landmark hotel that is centrally located. It is classified as a luxury hotel with all the amenties such as spa, dining room, health club, etc. Oddly, I can't remember my room, only the lobby! I have also stayed at the Blue Horizon mentioned above. Our room was very large with a mini fridge but I seem to recall it used to be a condo so there is not the ambiance of the Hotel Vancouver. On my last visit to Vancouver I stayed at the Wedgewood Hotel. Small but excellent property. It reminded me of an European hotel.

I don't even want to fathom how "Port Townsend" counts as being "enroute to Vancouver" (from Seattle).

You certainly won't perish without air conditioning in the northwest, in September. It could be hot, but most would bet heavily against that being the case.

You might consider Times Square Suites which is in the West End near Stanley Park. It is a suite hotel so you have a full kitchen and washer/dryer. It is a different energy than a hotel room at the Fairmont but if you wanted to immerse into the Vancouver culture, this area is an excellent choice. It is next to Stanley Park.
I would go to the Fairmont for high tea and the Wedgewood for a glass of wine! Their restaurants are excellent
