vancouver hotel

Has anyone heard of the Listel Hotel on Robson Street in Vancouver and would you recommend it?

Yes, I've heard of it and have visited it, but have never stayed there. It's in a central location and has good reviews - I'd take a chance and stay there.

I've stayed there many times over the years, through its re-incarnation as O'Doul's and the Best Western and now the Listel. The location simply cannot be beat at Robson and Jervis. Close to shopping, sooo many good restaurants, Stanley Park, Coal Harbour and the quirky West End neighbourhood all around. It was my Vancouver home when visiting for many years. It's a low-rise, so don't expect a view, but the inner atrium rooms are very quiet. As I'm usually a female travelling alone when in Vancouver the added security of key card access to the hotel floor elevators was a plus (after an extremely unpleasant experience at another Vancouver Hotel). I only stopped staying there after they went completely non-smoking (alas - flame me - but I need to have a smoking room)!

My new home is the Pacific Palisades (across the street). A little more "character" in the ambiance and staff. A little less smooth typical hotel polish. Depends what you are after. You might also look into the "Blue Horizon" which is a 1/2 block away - which looked good to me as well. - Good Luck.

Yes, stayed there last October - a lovely boutique hotel, very handy to plenty of shops & restaurants. We decided not to eat in house, but walked down to the harbour front, and had a wonderful meal there.
Original art works on the walls, free books by Canadian authors, excellent service . . . and all at a very reasonable price!
Would thoroughly recommend it,
happy travels, Di
