I'll be in downtown Vancouver (Century Plaza) this weekend. Looking for a great place for dinner. Suggestions?<BR>Thanks!

Vancouver's a restaurant city - there are hundreds of great restaurants, all types of cuisines and ranging prices. What budget did you have in mind? Any cuisine/location preference?

Thanks for your quick response, Robyn. Downtown area, fairly expensive is OK, seafood/steaks and such.

La Gravoche - wonderful, expensive, French, romantic<BR><BR>Cafe de Paris- new management but in the past, excellent, French, less expensive, good wine selection<BR><BR>Chef and the Carpenter- wonderful, less expensive, not as romantic but great dining, French.<BR><BR>The Sitar (in Gastown)- excellent, moderate price, South Asian.<BR> Bon apetit<BR>Mandy

My choices would be Lumiere for a terrific 8 course tasting menu...or Provence Mediterranean Grill..two locations. Enjoy.

I will be traveling to Vancouver in the Fall and wanted to eat at Cafe de Paris again. My wife and I consider it our favorite restaurant in Vancouver. Has anyone tried it since the management change? Same quality and price? Thanks in advance.

Everybody here has excellent suggestions, but they're also some of Vancouver's top restaurants... and while generally Vancouver's known as a cheap place to dine (especially if you're coming from the USA), restaurants like Lumiere or Le Gavroche aren't considered "fairly inexpensive" - but then again, I could be wrong. ;)<BR><BR>Vancouver Magazine usually has a good selection of restaurant reviews on their website. They first one started in North Vancouver several decades ago, but now they're all over North America. You can usually never go wrong with them. They're quite classy and won't break the budget.<BR><BR>Cardero's is one of my favourite restaurants downtown, located at the north foot of Cardero Street. They have a good selection of seafood, among other items. The location is also great, as it's right on the water overlooking Stanley park and the mountains. I find it's more of a restaurant that defines Vancouver.
