Vancouver Cruise Terminal Film Xray
I'm boarding a crusie ship in Vancouver and was wondering if you have to put your carry on bags through an xray machine.
I'll have lots of film with me and prefer not to have it xrayed, even though they say it's safe to do so. I passed my film through lots of airport xray machines without a problem, but I don't think cruise terminals maintain their equipment as well as airports do.
Alternatively, does anyone know if they xray the checked luggage. If not, I'll just leave my film there.

I don't know about the Xray machines at the crusieship terminal but can tell you a bit about Xrays and film in general.
I am a professional photographer and used to work on a newspaper. I often had film Xrayed and sometimes the same roll of film was Xrayed 4 or 5 times. Films of 400ISO or below are not affected by Xrays even after several passes through the machine. Films with 800ISO or higher are more of a problem.
What I do is ask for a hand check of films (This is usually turned down, but there is no harm in asking). Never put any film in checked luggage, carry it on with you. Try to use film slower that 400ISO.

Thank you both for the comments. I, too, am a professional photographer. As I said, I've never had a problem passing my film through airport machines...and always request a hand-check. But I did have film fogged once after it passed through a machine at the cruise terminal in Los Angeles.
Their machines aren't used as frequently as airport equipment. I don't think they're maintained as well.
I was just wondering if anyone who has boarded a cruise in Vancouver can tell me what to expect.

Just returned from Vancouver and thought I'd answer my own question in case anyone else is wondering.
Yes, all carry-on luggage is x-rayed. All ckecked luggage is also x-rayed as it is loaded onto the ship
