Vancouver BC
Will be in Vancouver in a couple of weeks. Have been checking out all the posts and have made lots of notes. Anybody have good restaurant ideas? Or street markets? We will have a car..so do not have to be in the city. Thanks everyone!

Lots of great restaurant choices...some off the top of my head are Nu, C, Vij's, Cioppino's, Parkside,Chambar, West, Feenies, Cin Cin, Lolita's, Bin 942, Pair Bistro, Cru, Century, and more. These are all of varying price ranges. Check out the websites for some more details.
As for Street Markets, not so much. Be sure to check out the Granville Island Public Market. You might enjoy wandering on Commercial Drive, areas of West 4th Avenue, and South Granville Area. cheers, CC |
I'm no refined restauranteur so I'm going to put down in black and white my love for "Boston Pizza", a mostly Canadian chain of italian places. They're dotted around the Vancouver area.
Besides, who goes to Canada for food? Has anyone ever even heard of "Canadian food"? OK, yeah, Canada gets credit for the bacon on pizza (for some reason)... but then what??? Seriously, Vancouver has many different possibilities and you could arrive there with no plans for food and still be content. You might drop into the "218-flavor ice cream place" (that is 7 times Baskin & Robbins if you're scoring). |
Bishops and GoFish are great.
http://www.eatsleepgo.com/BritishColumbia.html has most of the top restaurants mapped out with their reviews from major publications. |
Vancouver Magazine has a fantastic collection of accurate and up to date restaurant reviews:
www.vanmag.com/bites.html In addition, I'd highly suggest skimming through their annual restaurant awards, for it'll give you an idea of the current "top 5" of every category (both casual and upscale): www.vanmag.com/16th/restaurant_awards.html Be sure to visit Granville Island Public Market if you're looking for a street market/vendor type atmosphere: www.granvilleisland.com Also, there's been a few similar threads on the TripAdvisor website that might interest you as well: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic..._Columbia.html |
Thank you all so much..I have taken notes and am ready to go. Thanks too for taking the time to give me web sites junioryn and Carmanah. All the info was very helpful.

Mincepie,
Take a scan through the Chowhounds.com website for Vancouver-related posts, as they might give you some more ideas two. Especially since you'll have a car, you'll be able to explore some of the restaurants located further away from the downtown core: http://www.chowhound.com/canada/boar...da/canada.html |
