Vancouver & Sunshine Coast
We visit BC every chance we get, but have spent our past visits on Vancouver Island and southern Gulf Islands. In late September, we're thinking of spending time on the mainland. Because we'll be leaving from Port Townsend and we don't like to spend our little bits of vacation on long drives, I'm thinking that we'll spend the first night in Vancouver ... next two nights somewhere on the Coast (Sechelt seems centrally-located) ... and the last night, close to the border. We'll be travelling with our small dog. Any accomodation or must-see/do suggestions? Thanks in advance for your advice ...

Try to get to Gibson's even for just a half day...it holds an important piece of Canadian pop culture history: Molly's Reach. It's a pretty little town close to Vancouver with gorgeous views of Howe Sound.

I can thoroughly recommend Ruby Lake Lodge about 4 hours north of Vancouver on the Sunshine Coast

Thank you both for the suggestion ... I loved Ruby Lake's website but, alas, they don't accept dogs as guests. Maybe we can stay there on a visit when the pooch stays with friends at home. Thanks again!

Just a little bit of trivia for you... The world's longest highway, Highway 101 stretches 9,312 miles (15020 km) from Castro on Chile's south coast to Lund on BC's Sunshine Coast.

http://www.britishcolumbia.com is a good site to explore..... Under the regions and towns category, click on Vancouver, Coast Mountains and you will find all the towns along the Sunshine Coast part of hwy 101 listed with a commentary and photos.
