US Customs pre-clearance at Winnipeg Airport?

My son will be flying to Miami from Winnipeg, via Chicago. His connection time is a bit tighter than I would be comfortable with. Is there a US Customs pre-clearance at Winnipeg Airport? He'll be flying United. Thank you.

check out Winnipeg airport website - www.waa.ca - they give list of phone numbers for information - couldnt see anything on the website re pre-clearance so you should give them a call - I know there is one in Toronto but have never flown out of W'peg.

Thank you, xxx.

Using the website you posted, I e-mailed the airport directly and just got the response. In Winnipeg, passengers do go through US Customs after check-in.

If your son has a passport, I urge him to take it because it will make getting past the immigration control officer much easier. All I did in Calgary was show it and go on my way.

If he does not have a passport, then a birth certificate and a picture ID, government issued, is the next best documentation.

If he has neither, then he may have trouble getting there in the first place because the air line ticket agents will ask for documentation before issuing a boarding pass.
