unlocked iphone 3gs in canada

I have an unlocked iphone 3gs from the us. and i want to use it in canada for about 8 days. I would need features like data connectivity for driving maps and voip calling.

i have seen some forums like buying sim from 711speakout and putting in the iphone. But wasnt sure if it gives data connectivity.

which carriers have pay-as u-go plans that would be a good choice?

We are going to travel from calgary-banff-jasper-banff-calgary.

The main carriers here in Alberta are Telus Mobility and Rogers. I think Bell is out here now too.

Be aware that once you get into the mountains, reception is limited to around the townsites... for instance, here in Jasper, there is spotty service from Jasper to Hinton, 75 km to the east. West, you lose reception almost as soon as you leave town, because of the terrain. South, on the Icefields Parkway, you lose reception down near Athabasca Falls (about 30 km south) and don't pick it up again until almost to Lake Louise. Both Telus and Rogers have maps on their websites that show their coverage areas.
