Trip to Tornoto
 

Hi all looking for suggestions any and all!

We will be in Toronto for the indy car race on the weekend of July 16-17 and plan on making a extending week trip of it. Now for the fun part!
What to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What to see in Toronto? Eat?
Take a day trip to Niagra falls? (no car) place to eat?

We are going to train over to Montreal and then Quebec City but stay in Montreal.

So what to see in those city's? Eat? Stay?

Wife likes small B&B style places and loves History and Museums.

Any and all ideas are greatly appreciated!!!!!

Summer in Toronto is alive with activity, especially on race weekend... plan on lots of walking, with emphasis on the waterfront and a ferry ride to Toronto islands...

Queen st w. is a fun boutique,bistro, and vendor street...

The entertainment district,Chinatown, Kensington market,Yorkville, Theatre district,Beaches, Casa loma, and Yonge street are all worth exploring.

Several day long bus tours include Niagara Falls and the nearby niagara wine region in Niagara on the Lake...

Is it best to use a debit card?

Its best to use a credit card...you receive US exchange and protections against theft and mischarges... A debit card does not protect you as well from having your account fleeced...

Never use foreign cash in Canada, many businesses only accept US money at par, and the current exchange would lose you 25 to30%..

I'll try again:

If you google Festivals in Toronto July 2016, you'll get a lot of good lists but they're by no means comprehensive. Still, it's enough to keep you busy. I'd also suggest that you google NOW Magazine which comes out every Thursday and will list events, music, film, etc for the upcoming week. You can also pick up a free hard copy of it in boxes at just about every street corner.

I agree that Queen Street is a good walk. Start at University and walk west but don't stop at Spadina. It gets funkier and more interesting after that. Walk as far as Bellwoods Park. There will be lots of shops to browse and places to stop for a drink or lunch.

Harbourfront Centre has some interesting festivals, art, theatre, music too and it's nice to be at the waterfront. If you're in Toronto on a Thursday night be sure to go down there for free dancing under the stars. There's always a live band and some good dancers to watch (but be sure to join in the dancing!) and it's a lovely thing to do on a summer night! Just google Harbourfront Centre, Toronto.

And for good blues, try the Rex on Queen Street. It doesn't look like much on the outside (or even the inside, for that matter!) but the music is good and the food is passable.

So I know that you already kind of have an itinerary...but this is totally worth it. You should (since you'll be in Toronto) head out to Tobermory/Bruce Peninsula area. You should go see Big Tub Harbour. I truly suggest this and I loved it so much!

*If you go - don't make the mistake I did, please make sure you have enough time to spend on Flower Pot Island...and take more time to eat in the good restaurants in Tobermory! :)

Toronto has so much to do in the summer but it all depends what type of food you like to eat. I would suggest going to Niagara Falls if you haven't been. That's always a big tourist attraction for those visiting Ontario. If you like wine then I highly suggest Niagara on the lake. Casa Loma is another great suggestion someone above made and they do lots of shows there in the summer called symphony in the gardens.
