Trip to Calgary
 

My wife and I would like to go to Calgary to pick up one of the rockies rail tours. How in the "heck" to you get there without driving? We live in NY. Is there any train service from Montreal? Thanks in advance.

There is no train service to Calgary. However, and this is a several day deal I should warn you, you can take the train from Montreal to Toronto. From there, you can pick up a train that goes from Toronto to Winnipeg (1 day, 7 hours) and then continue on through Saskatchewan and into Edmonton. It's a long trip to get to Edmonton; I'd estimate 3-4 days. But I know people who have done cross-Canada rail trips from Vancouver even, all the way into Montreal. It's a trip of a lifetime, should you choose to do it. <BR><BR>Best wishes, DAN

I forgot to say, it's from Edmonton that I believe that famous trip through the Rockies starts. Alternatively, you fly into Vancouver and start there.

How do you get to Calgary without driving? Well, I suppose Calgary has an airport because I am scheduled to fly there in two weeks.<BR>

You crack me up Mr/Ms xxx. Bob Brown IS one of our American neighbours. I hope he has better weather than we did a week ago, although it was nicer in the mountains than in Calgary.<BR><BR>Humblejohn, it would be quickest to fly to Calgary (assuming you are able or want to fly) and take the train from there. My husband took this trip, in reverse from Vancouver to Calgary (I don't know of it going to Edmonton), and he loved it. Maybe you could get an open-jaw flight and leave from Vancouver.<BR>
