Trip to Banff, Calgary, etc

What kind of trip would be best for driving in the Banff/Calgary/Jasper/Lake Louise area? We will 4 of us and we would like to stay at hotels, inns, etc. We would have about 10 days. We live in Detroit, MI and my brother in law and his wife live in San Diago. Any ideas? Suggestions?

For heavens sake! There is a WEALTH of information on the WWW. Or, you could invest in a good tour guide or two at your local bookstore. If you want your trip planned out for you, along with overnight accomodations, find yourself on of those "reputable" travel agents and book a bus tour.

Seriously, do you really expect folks to come along and provide a ten-day itinerary for you, complete with recommended places to stay???

Better to research and plan a tentative itinerary and come back when you're ready for comments on specific destinations and accomodations, and fine-tuning your overall plan.

Well, you will miss the show if you don't drive the Icefields Parkway.

Roberta, www.travelalberta.com should be able to help you out. They have a sample tour of this area on the website which may give you some ideas and help you set up a time line. Info about Jasper can be found at www.jaspercanadianrockies.com, and info specific to Calgary and Banff can also be found on the web but I'm not sure of the exact web sites. Good luck with the planning!

I'm doing some research on Banff activities myself (for this winter holiday) and found www.discoverbanff.com to be quite useful.. There's tons to see and do.
