Travelling with beer from Quebec through New Brunswick
 

Hey folks, just a quick question for any local NBers. There is an article from early 2013 about police randomly searching people's trunks and issuing 17 fines to people bringing in beer from Quebec where it is much cheaper. We are passing through NB on the way to Nova Scotia and were hoping to take advantage of the cheaper beer in Quebec , but we are not from New Brunswick nor are staying there.

Just curious if there has been any mention of this stuff in the news lately, and does it apply to Ontarians who are merely passing through but not actually from there? And there was only one article pertaining to this subject and a lot of public backlash from it, so I'm just wondering if this is still an ongoing thing and if its any concern for Ontarians merely passing through

There are no border crossings. This is one country. You can bring beer anywhere you like in Canada. Just not open in your car. Where did you see this article?

Actually, there are laws about bringing wine and alcohol across provincial borders.

I thought I heard something about the law being repealed in the last year, though I can't find an internet reference. All I could find was this proposed bill which proposed excluding wine for personal use:

Yes, you are not legally allowed to transport liquor across the provincial lines. If you do, it must be for "personal" use - so reasonable amount that doesn't indicate you will be "bootlegging" it.
