Traveling to Seattle, Vancouver & Victoria in October 2019

Hello all!
My husband and I are traveling to Seattle (flying in), then heading to Vancouver for 2 days, then over to Victoria. We were going to stay 2 days in Whistler, however, neither one of us ski, and it seems like a fancy ski resort town.
We've decided to head to Victoria and spend a day or two, but we will need to rent a car. We are coming over on the ferry (not sure which one) and aren't sure how close the rental car places are to the ferry terminal.

Looking to go whale watching in Victoria, see the gardens and Parliament, and well as take in the sites and culture.
We will spend the last 3 days back in Seattle, then we fly back home.

Flying in 10/4, and flying home 10/12.

We love nature, architecture, history, hiking, yummy food (few dietary restrictions), etc...
We typically stay on the go to pack in as much as possible, however, we don't want to be completely wiped!
Also looking to send the day in Leavenwoth, WA.

*We already booked an Air BnB in Seattle, but nothing so far in BC.

Just quick -- if you are only talking a couple of days there is no reason to rent a car in Victoria. More than enough to fill your time locally. Butchart Gardens is out of town a bit but you can take a tour bus there (it isn't a set tour, just a tour bus to get you there)

Take an Amtrak train (early morning) or a later Amtrak bus from Seattle King St. station to Vancouver. With customs it takes close to 4 hours. There are several options to get to Victoria from Vancouver without renting a car. I agree with janisj that there is plenty to see and do in Victoria just by walking or taking a taxi or tour bus.
Return to Vancouver for your trip back to Seattle or fly out from there.

It is fun to take a float plane from Victoria Harbor to Seattle.

I took the ferry over and the float plane back and it was fabulous.

In Victoria I usually stay at the Surf Motel. Kind of a funky older place right across from the water and great walking trails. They have small kitchens, free parking. You say you are a hiker, so walking down to the harbor area should not be a problem. Victoria is a great walking city!
