Travel in Canada

We will be traveling in our motor home through northern US and want to include the Alcan highway in our travels. We always travel with our dog and I wondered if there would be any problem going into Canada. Also wondered if there was any literature on the Alcan highway, so we would have some idea of where gas stations, etc. are located along the way.

Just make sure your dog has all it's shots. Get the vaccination (Rabies) papers from your vet.

By the ALcan highway and is that in Ontario? or do you mean the Alaskan Hwy?
We have a largvbe motorhome and crossed the border into the US with our dog many times. Either way US to Can / Can to US your dog needs papers , Cats too!
Maybe I don't have the right name. The highway built from the US into Canada to Alaska which was built as an for the
Alaska pipeline people. I always thought it was called the Alcan, but maybe its called the Alaskan. Thanks for your info about the dogs, that's easy enough!

I have heard it referred to as the Alcan as well, although there is only one road and the original reason it was built was not for the oil companies!

I will allow you the pleasure of finding out the history of this route as you travel it. Lord knows, it would be a long and arduous trip without such mysteries to discover!

If you traveling ANYWHERE in Alaska or Northern Canada by road, you *ABSOLUTELY MUST* buy the latest version of "The Milepost", which tells EVERYTHING you could possibly want about EVERY MILE of every highway. Gas stations, motels, campgrounds, scenery, wildlife viewing, etc, etc, etc. No matter WHAT is the name of the highway you're traveling on, this book will tell you about it.
