Transat Air
Has anybody flown Air Tranat from Toronto to Europe? Are they reliable? Any good or bad characteristics? Thanks!

Have flown Air Transat from Vancouver to London. It was fine - no problems. Seats seem a littl smaller but most of the economy seats on any flights I have taken lately seem just as cramped. Service was fine and flight departure/arrival times were on schedule.

I have not flown Air Transat but my husband and sons flew with them from Toronto to Scotland in October. They were pleased with the service although they did change the aircraft prior to departure which mixed up their seat selection a bit (all airlines do that). The flights were on time, and I checked the on-time performance a week prior and they were always on schedule. They have been operating for 25 years and to my knowledge is the longest a charter carrier has operated in Canada. I had occasion to call their customer service and they were efficient, courteous, and knowledgeable. Upon their return Air Transat followed up thanking them for their business.

I flew them once 14 years ago, perhaps they've improved - they left late going to Scotland, the seats were cramped and they were a couple of hours late leaving London coming home. A friend flies them often and she said she's always delayed coming back...she likes their prices though.

They did have 1 very scary incident 10 years ago.
The plane landed at over 200 knots with no power and no reverse thrusters. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Transat_Flight_236 I saw a TV documentary about this one. |
