Train from Niagara to Toronto

Just curious if anyone has taken this train. I am considering it since the fare appears to be relatively inexpensive ($20) and the train runs twice a day. If anyone has any knowledge of this train, please let me know. I will be travelling alone with my 4 month old.
Thanks!

The evening train (#98) comes in from NYC. I'd worry about it being late.

Over the last few years, my husband has had limited experience taking this train from St. Catharines (one of the first few stops after NF on the way to T.O.). Since Sept 11, this train can be significantly delayed clearing customs. On one occasion in 2002, there was a delay of over an hour. Thinking that perhaps this was an isolated incident, he attempted to take the same train once again in 2003. After an hour+ wait, they finally brought in buses to transport the passengers waiting for the train. Since then, on the rare occasion that he does need to travel from St. Catharines to Toronto, he simply takes the bus and has found it a much more relaxing, less frustrating option. I'm not sure whether this is still a problem, but I know that my husband won't take the chance. On the other hand, taking the train from Toronto to Niagara still works well for stops on the Canadian side of the border - no delays until you hit the border.

An argument can be mde that the bus is a better way of getting to and from Niagara Falls.

More trips per day, and no waiting for it to clear customs.

An hour delay on an AMTRAK medium-distance train is really nothing. I was thinking more like 2-3 hours. The train left NYC early in the morning, and throughout the day, there can be so many stuff that can slow or halt its progress.
