Over the last few years, my husband has had limited experience taking this train from St. Catharines (one of the first few stops after NF on the way to T.O.). Since Sept 11, this train can be significantly delayed clearing customs. On one occasion in 2002, there was a delay of over an hour. Thinking that perhaps this was an isolated incident, he attempted to take the same train once again in 2003. After an hour+ wait, they finally brought in buses to transport the passengers waiting for the train. Since then, on the rare occasion that he does need to travel from St. Catharines to Toronto, he simply takes the bus and has found it a much more relaxing, less frustrating option. I'm not sure whether this is still a problem, but I know that my husband won't take the chance. On the other hand, taking the train from Toronto to Niagara still works well for stops on the Canadian side of the border - no delays until you hit the border.
