Toronto's Delta Chelsea on Strike?!
I was wondering if this hotel was still on strike. My dad is currently there, got in late last night, and they are giving him a really hard time. He made a last minute trip because his sister just died (he's originally from Toronto) and is attending her funeral. The staff was incredibly rude to him, stating they could use his room since there's a convention in town. I am unsure if the reason for the poor treatment is because of the strike (which he did not know about), or whether they are generally just not nice. Having just lost his youngest sister, he really doesn't need this attitude, but with a convention in town, what can he do?!

The Delta Chesea has always been the "bus station" of Toronto Hotels... Cheap rates, tons of families, crazy lobby, and less than good service... even when they are not on strike, you cant expect much... sorry for your dad... I would move him if he's there for longer than one night...

The strike was settled today

If your Dad checked in before the strike was settled, it means it was someone other than regular staff (possibly management?) treating him poorly. As for their comment about there being a convention in town - there's always a convention or big event going on in the city so that sounds like BS to me, again possibly from management. Seems like just crap service - your Dad should complain to someone higher up the Delta Hotels food chain when he gets home.

It's Toronto. He must know it is a cold, nasty city. It reminds me of New York 40 years ago. Luckily NY grew out of their nasty period. It appears to be permanent in Toronto. The strike is over for the moment.

I'd rather be lost in Toronto asking for help than NYC... merckxxx, take your medicine and lay down for awhile...

He's disabled, so he needs to stay in one place. I'm glad to hear the strike settled. He'll be home tomorrow, but I feel bad he had to endure hotel meanness, especially under the circumstances of his visit.

He loves Toronto and his family there. He just loves California and his family here more, lol.
I love Toronto. Toronto has Massey Hall, the best Neil Young venue EVER. Worth going just for that. |
