Toronto Seafood Restaurants
 

Staying at the Courtyard on Yonge Street. Any good seafood restuarants in the area? Any great ones worth the trip somewhere else in the city?

"Bayview garden"in Colony Hotel near Cityhall is one of the best seafood restaurants in town,it is an authentic high-end Chinese restaurant.

I haven't been there for a couple of years, but Chiado is a very upscale (and expensive) Portuguese restaurant. It's on College West. Very good service and excellent food, with an emphasis on seafood.

The following are all good and downtown. None are "cheap" although "cheap" is a relative term. For example, Toronto restaurants are bargains compared to big U.S. cities because of exchange rates, despite taxes. <BR> <BR>La Pecherie (part of Movenpick) in Yorkville has good fresh fish. Walkg distance or short taxi. <BR> <BR>Hiro on King St. has the best sushi in Toronto. Sit at the sushi bar. Short taxi ride. <BR> <BR>Joso's also in Yorkville. Some love the seafood, some find it okay. Very artful decor makes up for it and a lot of "Hollywood" entertainment people go there. <BR> <BR>Rodney's Oyster House has great oysters and, arguably, is one of the great North American oyster bars. They are moving from Jarvis/Adelaide to King/Spadina, both short taxi. Call ahead. <BR> <BR>You can also check out toronto.com or torontolife.com

In the theatre district there is Filet of Sole. Can't say it's great but convenient if you're going to be in that area. Rodney's is great tho'.

Although not classified as "seafood", Far Niente on Bay street has a good variety of salmon dishes and other seadfood, as well as non- seafood fare. Great food, winebar in basement, and their chocolate souffle is AMAZING&gt; Nice, upscale atmosphere.

If you like lobsters, a kind of hidden gems in toronto if you are willing to venture outside of downtown is a resturant called Lobster Royale, its on Yonge St, north of Steeles Ave. In the north end of Toronto.. <BR>They have fresh whole lobsters between the size of 1 LB to 2.5 lbs, ranging for a dinner which comes with soup/chowder, salad, potatoes/fries for the 1 lb at around $25 CDN...you can have the lobster steamed or broiled. They also have other fine seafood items on the menu, with typical king crabs, salmon, shellfishes, etc,, also are steaks and pasta items for non-seafood fan.. <BR>Another similar style of lobster resturant is called 'Lobster Trap' located around Avenue Rd and 401...Same concept as Lobster royale and prices are very similar... <BR>
