Toronto: Residence Inn Downtown
Hi - I booked a 2BR suite for myself, husband and college pal for 3 days in Toronto on the way back from dropping kid off at camp. We couldn't find a 2BR suite that's in a "good" area until I came upon the Residence Inn Downtown Toronto, a brand new hotel that had good feedback from people in Tripadvisor. I'd appreciate any advice on this hotel, area, and esp. the $30/day valet parking! Suite is $304CAD, which is about $285USD.
Thanks!! |
Where is it, Perky? Can you give us the website? Is a two bedroom suite cheaper than two rooms (here or elsewhere)?

The area is an excellent location for tourists - right in the middle of the nightclub district (but just off the main club streets so it wont be loud), quick (less than 5 minute) walk to queen st west, st. andrew (king/university) subway, king streetcar, theatres, opera house, art gallery of ontario, sports arenas, cn tower, harbourfront, steamwhistle brewery. Also walkable (within 1-2 kilometers) is the eaton center, queen's park, university of toronto, the annex on bloor west, little italy on college west, st lawrence market, esplanade... and all of these places could also be reached by a number of transit options, or a <$10 cab.
$304 CAD is also a good deal for 3 people - a typical double bed hotel room in toronto is usually much more than $175-200 (CAD) per night in this area. I would take the $30/day valet parking as a good deal. You'd be hard pressed to find parking anywhere near your hotel for less than $15-20 day, and having it right in your hotel with a valet would be nice. Sounds like a great place! Although I've heard priceline is very good in Toronto so you might see what you can get there first. A friend of mine got the Royal York (swanky place downtown) for $50CAD/night! Jeff |
I recently called about the Residence Inn and when I asked about any construction in the hotel or near it, the gentleman mentioned that a high-rise condo is going up right next door to the hotel. If that matters to you, you may want to call and ask about that yourself.

We still are without an address for this place.
And if it is brandnew, how to web sites get positive responses about it. Anyone know the actual address of this place? BAK |
It's at 255 Wellington West and it's a new Marriott Residence Inn. Here's the website:
http://www.marriott.com/hotels/trave...ment-district/ It looks quite nice. I can't remember seeing any hint of a hotel being built around there and I'm in that neighbourhood a lot but obviously I missed it. I think you can get parking in a city lot (green circle with a white P in it) for less than $30 a day. If there's any way you can do it without the car, that would be preferable. You really don't need a car in downtown Toronto. It's a busy, safe, fun location. Lots of restaurants and theatres, etc. The price seems good to me. You wouldn't likely get a room for under $150, especially in a brand new hotel, especially at this time of year when there's a lot going on in the city. Just general info: Marriott has great seniors rates for those over 62. |
A BiddingForTravel member reported receiving the Residence Inn on a $50 (USD) Pricoline bid;

My office is about four blocks from this hotel, and I did not notice it, either.
According to the map, it's immediate south of Le Germain, which is immediately south of the Holiday Inn on King, both of which are in excellent locations for toruists. And if those Priceline prices are available, this is a bargain. BAK |
