Toronto questions
I am trying to plan for a weekend getaway in Sept. I've decided to try to get the Sheraton Centre thru Hotwire as suggested by previous posters, using the 3.5 star guide. I contemplated Priceline, but am unsure of what other hotels might come up. Anyone with experience using Priceline in the downtown area?
My other question is in regards to the City Pass that is offered with the Hotwire hotel booking, costing $36/person and which includes admission to: CN Tower Art Gallery of Ontario Royal Ontario Museum Casa Loma Ontario Science Centre Toronto Zoo I assume this is a pretty good deal? I would also like to take in a show and would appreciate any suggestions. Time frame is Sept 17-19. |
It's a good deal (the $36 pass) if you want to do all these things, but that's an awful lot for a weekend, and the zoo is a long way from downtown.
You might visit the web sites, check the prices, and add then all up. The CN Tower, the AGO and the ROM are all great places, easy to get to fromthe Sheraton. Walk to CN Tower, AGO, take the subway to the ROM, or walk. I did that walk (pretty close, anyway) yesterday, both ways, because, on balance, the enjoyment of the walk was worth the $4.50 I saved on subway tokens. You can go nuts trying to find hotel bargains -- jsdt accept the Sheraton, don;t worry about what you are missing, and enjoy yourself. t's a good hotel, in a good location. Science Center -- if you love science, go, or if you have kids, go. Otherwise, there are probably better things for an adult to do on a weekend. BAK |
You're right BAK, Hotwire it is. With our limited time we would probably only hit a few of the attractions.
I am still open to any theatre suggestions. Thanks for the reply, BAK, you always give good information. |
Theatre -- last Thursday night I was having coffee across the street from Hairspray when the show let out, and there were three tables surrounding me a few minutes later, with people at all the tables saying how much they enjoyed the show.

Try using the Toronto Tourism sponsored
by VISA folks. I think the number is 800 363 1990 (not sure without looking it up) or www.torontotourism.com The folks there are very helpful and can a package together for you if that is what you want to do. Often times the pricing is less than calling direct to hotels. |
I have seen Hairspray and it was fabulous! I would gladly see it again. The Producers ( is it still in Toronto?) is very funny. If I had to pick from the two, I would choose Hairspray first. A high-energy, upbeat show. Have a great time!
