Toronto - Niagara Falls NO CAR

Planning a trip to Niagara Falls and Toronto at the end of April/early May. We will fly into Montreal, take the train to Toronto (where we've been already) for a few days of sightseeing, then plan to do Niagara Falls. We will not have a car, so bus/train is the way to go.

1. Is there workable public transit to get us to and from TO to the falls?

2. Which towns are good for spending a few nights around the Niagara Falls area, on the Ontario side? We would be looking for inns or B&Bs/AirBnB, no camping.

3. Is there a third stopping point that one would recommend to check out? We don't get to this area often, but we will only have a couple of weeks, so if we wanted another stop after the Falls, is there somewhere that would be appropriate for outdoor activities (eg. walks, beaches maybe) and some cultural sights (art, movies, music)

Thanks you!

There are regular trains between Toronto and Niagara Falls that drop you off at at the WeGo bus shuttle at the Falls... Check the times to coordinate your arrival...

The tourist area in the Falls offers the views, but if you are interested in a quieter few days, consider Niagara on the Lake... Home of the Shaw Festival for theatre and in the heart of the wine region, there are plenty of dining options, plays, wine tours, quaint shops and bike tours...

Plenty of cottage rentals, hotels, inns, and B&B options all within a short walk of Lake Ontario... Also home to Whirlpool JetBoats, the best attraction at the Falls.

Not having a car is a drawback, so you might consider a few days rental from Toronto to make it easier to get around in Niagara... Have fun!

You can do the trip on the Go train from Toronto in about 2hours. You transfer at Burlington and then Gobus it the reat of the way... and Niagara Transit but would need to look at a map but buses run infrequently at times so agree renting a is a good option if you go outside of Niagara, Niagara-on-the-lake and St Catherines especially but those places not as many worries. Actually St Catherine and Niagaraonthelake have beaches..but it is cold here in April/May..nice spots to relax though. If you have a car you might want to google a trip over through Cayuga to Port Dover for lunch and relaxation then onwards to Turkey Point for nature and beach walks. Port Dover is an hour out of Niagara Falls.

Beautiful area....enjoy your trip

Your hotel in Toronto will have information on bus excursions to Niagara. No doubt some will cover the surrounding area, where by early May the vineyards will be turning green and spring will be in the air. Driving to the Falls is certainly more independent and flexible but the expressways from Toronto can be either fast or a moving parking lot at any time of the day or night. You can find plenty of local tourist information about Niagara Falls on line since it is a major industry.
