Sally,
Thanks so much for posting this! I hope we'll see you there.

SallyCanuck May 16th, 2008 07:49 AM

Oh yeah - with my dancin' shoes!

SallyCanuck Jun 2nd, 2008 05:48 AM

The times have been changed.

Same day: Friday, June 6th
Still at Dundas Square and still FREE

However, there is an opening band which is not a swing band. Because of this, they've changed the time of the dance lesson.

Beginner lindy lesson is at 8pm.

Lindy Hop performances right after the lesson.

Count Basie Orchestra at 9pm.

Social dance on a 50 foot dance floor in Dundas Square.

goddesstogo Jun 2nd, 2008 06:14 AM

Thanks Sally. Maybe we'll go to a movie before and hit the dancefloor at 9.

SallyCanuck Jun 2nd, 2008 08:39 AM

See ya there - hopefully, the weather will cooperate.

Mathieu Jun 4th, 2008 08:25 PM

We'll be there too, somewhere...

Planning to see the East Indian version of 'A Midsummer Nights Dream' touring from London and performed in 8 East Indian kanguages. Its playing at the Canon theatre. I've heard its fantastic how they do it and the colours are supposed to be amazing.

Theres lots of great stuff this year.

SallyCanuck Jun 5th, 2008 05:26 AM

I hope the predicted rain holds off.

trubrit Jun 5th, 2008 10:38 AM

Hello,
re predicted weather, we will be in Toronto 6/8 for a week. Is a light windbreaker sufficent for rain?We will be walking all over.
WEather forecast is scattered T Storms most of next week.
Leaving June gloom in So. California. Luminato sounds wonderful, will be sorry to miss Count Basie, thanks for the info.

SallyCanuck Jun 5th, 2008 01:19 PM

IF they're right about the temperatures - predicted to be in the 30s - a windbreaker to keep dry will be fine but it will likely be humid and the windbreaker will feel like your own personal sauna.

There's a Blues Festival this weekend, too. http://www.distilleryblues.com/

SallyCanuck Jun 5th, 2008 01:30 PM

AND there's a Cuban film festival at 290 Danforth Avenue in the Music Hall - $5 to $10. www.canadiannetworkcuba.ca

Carnivalissima www.caribanatoronto.com - Free at Harbourfront

goddesstogo Jun 5th, 2008 06:49 PM

I love the name Woofstock.

I now don't know if we're going to get to any of this as my SO's mom is in the hospital. :(

SallyCanuck Jun 6th, 2008 06:57 AM

Hope everything is okay - it'll be stinkin' hot anyway.

goddesstogo Jun 6th, 2008 08:20 AM

Thanks, SC!
