Toronto in September: Best French Bistro Type Restaurant?

We have a free night in Toronto and wanted to find a casual upscale French Bistro? Any suggestions? We will be staying Downtown. Thanks.

Le Select Bistro, on Queen Street West, west of Peter Street, east of Spadina Avenue.

Or St. Tropez, in the stretch of restaurants along King Street West, west of John Street and east of Peeter Street / Blue Jays Way (same street, two names)

Le Select seems to me to be as close to Paris as you'll find in Toronto.

BAK

Thank you Brian for your answer. I will look into the possibility of them both.

another vote for St. Tropez on King. Great spot.

Yet another vote for Le Select! I've been dining there for 15 years and continue to enjoy doing so. My husband swears by the steak (the Alberta cut, not the bavette) and I love the value of the prix fixe. Great food, service, and atmosphere - not to be missed!

The "real" Select is on Place Pablo Picasso in Paris, and was the first bistro to stay open all night, apparently.

The Toronto Le Select Bistro is pretty much directly south of the Art Gallery of Ontario, (a couple of blocks) where there are pictures by Pablo Picasso.

The Toronto Select is only a couple of blocks from St. Tropez, so you could go look at them both and pick the one that appeals most. Select on Queen St. West, near Peter Street. St. Tropez on King Street West, near Peter, three blocks south.
BAK
