Toronto in October

My husband and I are planning a trip to Toronto in October (6-11) for our anniversary. I was reading some reviews for hotels and became a little nervous when a few people talked about the area not being safe. We were looking at either SoHo Metropolitan, Cosmopolitan or Pantages Hotels. Has anyone been to the area and stayed at any of these Hotels.

There is certainly nothing wrong with these areas. They are in the main downtown area of Toronto.

Nothing to worry about.

All of them are in great areas. Toronto's a safe city and full of people downtown at night. You'll be fine.

Just one thing, though. Last time I looked, the Pantages didn't get very good reviews on TripAdvisor. Things may have changed since then but check it out. If I remember correctly, the negatives were about service rather than the place itself.

Nice time of year to be coming here.

Thank you everyone for your help. Does anyone know anything about the Cosmopolitan or SoHo Metropolitan Hotels?

My friend stayed at the Soho on her honeymoon (1 night) and quite liked it. That's all I've got to tell you though. I think it's quite expensive.

It's in the 'entertainment district' -- lots of restaurants, theatres, clubs, the ballpark. Easy walking and transportation to the downtown core and subway (15 minute walk, 5 minute streetcar ride). Also within walking distance of lakeshore and Harbourfront Centre.

a number of celebrities have stayed at the Soho (if that means anything )

We stayed at the Cosmopolitan early this spring. The lobby lacked ambience, but the room we got (king size bed) was very clean and nice...European-style decor, which reminded me of IKEA.

We found the main restaurant (Asian cuisine) too expensive, but the staff at the front desk directed us to a street nearby that had lots of restaurants to choose from.

Hope this helps,
Bloom
