Looking for a small hotel close to the center of the city or close to the university district.

Small? How about the Holiday Inn at Bloor and St. George. That's right at the University.

If you want to be right on the U of T campus and it doesn't have to be a 'hotel', some of the residences rent rooms during the summer.

The university women's club runs a good B&B (not just for women) right on campus. bbcanada.com/universitywomensclub

Been a while but we always liked the Novotel down town. Also had good luck with the Marriott.
