Toronto First Time Visitor
 

In October we will be visiting Toronto for several days would like some sightseeing advice. We like museums, iimportant historical sites and buildings, etc. Also would like a suggestion on dining out.

We have visited Montreal, Quebec, Novia Scotia, Vancouver and Victoria, but have never been in the Toronto area.

Please look down the topic list that's probably at the left of your screen, and at the bottom of that there's a link to even more questions. There are dozens of messages already here about coming to Toronto.

Many, you'll note, give us a pretty good idea of interests. It's a huge city; there is a lot to do. You'll find vast amounts of it already here waiting for you.

The best historical buildings, depending.... are in the Distillery District, where there are restaurants and stores and galleries.

I was also going to recommend the Distillery district. If you google, you'll find their website - there are often events going on (music, art, etc.) so it's really very nice.

As I think about earlier threads, I image there's no reference to Campbell House, at University and Queen, built in 1822.

There are reasonably priced tours weekdays. It's the old home of one of the earliest top citizens of Toronto.

The King Edward Hotel is 100 years old this year, and the Royal York is 75 years old.

One of the places that I would have liked to include, but didn't have the time for, is Casa Loma mansion. I really enjoyed Black Creek Pioneer Village, and the Royal Ontario Museum is an incredible (and eclectic) collection.

The lunch at the CN Tower is really quite good, and a bargain when you consider it includes the ticket to the top; I was able to get reservations for lunch immediately. I am sure dinner would be spectacular, as far as view, but is, of course, a bit more pricey!

Another meal that I loved consisted of strawberries, spanokopita, and baklava from Greektown...not exactly a dining out suggestion, but mmmmmmmm.....good.
