TORONTO Easter Weekend
I am going to be in Toronto Easter Weekend. I need the names of some GOOD Vegetarian Restaraunts in the Downtown to Bloor area. The only one I have been to is Commercal on Elm. Other places that have some Vegetarain Choices would be good too. I will be looking forward to your suggestions.

I think you are remembering Le Commensal on Elm - it is good.
Try Juice for Life which (as a recall - so check this) has a location on Bloor Street at Bathurst and also on Queen Street just west of University. Also, Kensington Natural Bakery & Vegetarian Restaurant is good (near Juice for life on Bloor just east of Bathurst. |
Thanks for the suggestions. Would I need reservations for Easter SUNDAY? |
Easter Sunday is usually very quiet in downtown Toronto, and many restaurants are closed on any Sundays, not just Easter.
This means those that are open may be busier than usual, or they may be quiet too. So I don't see a downside to making a reservation. Getting in touch at least confirms the restaurant will be open. BAK |
Juice for Life on Bloor might take reservations. I don't know if the others would or not. They are all pretty casual.
I have also heard good things about Cafe 668 and Fressen but haven't been there. They are both a bit more upscale. I'm attaching a link to the Toronto Life restaurant guide Vegetarian section - it is not an advertising section but includes real reviews so should be of help. http://www.torontolife.com/cityguide...isting_id=6487 Enjoy |
Thanks so much for the info. Has anyone tried any of these veggie places to eat?
|
Ok .......has anyone been to any other place that would be suitable and is nifty in the downtown area?

For walking around food, Amato, in an old market building on the north Side of Queen Street West, between McCaul and John, sells excellent pizza, including vegetarian varities.Buy a slice and eat as you walk through Queen Street West area.
I thought, but someone recently told me I was wrong, that Peter Oan at Queen Street West and Peter Street was vegetarian. However, I'm willing to bet it has vegetarian food. There are various vegetarion items on Chinese menusa, and if I had to pick on, it would be Bright Pearl, on Spadina Avenue, a couple of blocks north of Dundas Street West. It's on the west side. Sorry I can't help more, but lately I've been rating restaurants by how good the hamburgers are. (Milestones on John, at Richmond, and Chicago, on Queen Street West, west of John, both have really good burgers, as does Mr. Greenjeans, in the Eaton Centre.) BAK |
True test:
A $20US bill bought me a tall Starbucks normal coffee, and provided me with $24.27 change, about 8:30 tonight. Usually the coffee is $1.66 in Canadian money. So that's about 30 percent excchange, painlessly, including a good coffee and a comfortable chair in which to drink it. BAK |
Thanks for your suggestions. Ate at my ususal la Commensal .....always great. Tried 2 new places 350 which just opened and Fressen. Fressen had lots of atmosphere. The food was very reasonably priced and delicious!
