Toronto - College St. eats
Hi folks, I haven't been to College St. between Spadina and Bathurst for a while but know there are a bunch of great restaurants/bistros. If anyone can recommend a few I would appreciate it. Nothing extravagant - just fun and funky. I only know of Olivia's but they are closed on Tuesdays which is when we are planning on going. Thanks a bunch!

Xacutti -- south side of College at Palmerston. I went for brunch and it was fabulous so I expect dinner would be great as well. You can see their menues at www.xacutti.com. If you're going for brunch, they don't take reservations so you have to be there by 10:30 am to get a table. It's worth it.

If you can, try to explore a little further west than Bathurst - there's a larger concentration of good restaurants in this section.

Kate's right and I just remembered another one -- Grappa, south side of College around Grace. Slightly more formal Italian food, warm atmosphere, good service.

I like Kalendar: simple meals, affordable, attractive decor. Not trendy, but funky.

Thank you hdm and Kate - will check them out and let you know where we end up. Appreciate your responses!

El Bodegon has great Latin American food; Kalendar is a great moderate choice with good atmosphere; Bar Italia is where all the Euro-Hipsters go; Cafe Diplomatico is an old school Italian coffee house; Gamelle and Pony are small romantic bistros; Bruyea Brothers has very good food - a bit bigger and more upscale. Xacutti is also excellent Indian fusion. Lots of other options and you don't usually need reservations.
