Toronto

Hi,

I have a few questions:

Are there any organized day trips from Toronto to Niagra Falls?

What other areas are close to Toronto that
we could explore without using a car.

How far is Montreal from Toronto and is there a train or a bus that we could take as my husband does not want to drive.
I'd love to hear from you. natjgc

Yes, there are lots of organized trips to Niagara Falls. Some are gambling trips, some are scenery trips, some are art and theatre trips.

Why do you want to leave Toronto for anywhere nearby, except Niagara Falls? You can arrange cars and drivers to anywhere.

The best way to go to Montreal is by train, from the downtown Toronto train station to the downtown Montreal station. There are sevral trains each way, each day. Montreal is about 360 miles / 600 km from downtown to downtown.

What about Niagara-on-the-Lake? A charming town just about a half an hour on the Toronto side of Niagara Falls. The Shaw Festival is on right now if you want to combine a visit to the town with some theatre.

Hi BAK

Its not that I want to leave Toronto, it just that I am unfamiliar with this city and we wanted to be there 4- 5 days and I'm not sure if there is enough
to do there for that amount of time.
We love to explore the cities we visit andI'm hoping that there is alot to do there. hdm- Niargra on the lake sounds great. What is the Shaw festival? natjgc

Toronto is one of the gret tourist cities in North America.

Some good travel magazine -- I think the current Conde Nast Traveller -- has about a 30 page section on Toronto that is actually pretty good. I think.

If you devote a day to Niagara on the Lake and Niagara Falls, and spend another day in Stratford -- day trips can be arranged -- you can see some of the world's best live theatre. Google shoulkd get you to info on The Stratford Festival, in Stratford, Ontario, and The Shaw Festival, in Niagara on the Lake.

After that, there's no real problem spending the rest of the time in Toronto. The more specific you can be in regard to you dates here and your intrests, the more helpful you can be.

For instance, I killed an afternoon last week walkign pretty quickly around just a small part of High Park, taking bad photos in terrible light. On a nice day, visiting the park could take half a very pleasant day.

We've got speciality museums -- there's a new one just opened on Inuit Art (at Harbourfront), on Textiles, on shoes... and some big high-end museums and art galleries, two of which have big-deal renovations.

As for going to Montreal, that's two full days including an overnight stay in Montreal. Depending on where you are coming from, Montreal's a great city, too, if you want to use up a lot of your time.

Shaw Festival:

Statford Festival:

but I think Niagara-on-the-Lake (Shawfest) is the more charming town and you can do it and Niagara Falls in the same day.
