Am planning a trip this summer and was wondering what your top 5 sights were

Where?

Sorry, Posted under NewFoundland.

The system is confusing - your post pops up under "Canada", and unless someone is searching specically in a specific area, they have no way of knowing where you need info for.

Newfoundland is a fabulous place! My husband and I visited for the first time last summer.

Our faves {completely subjective}: 1. Gros Morne National Park, 2. An iceburg up close, via a superb boat trip from St. Anthony - also saw "tons" of whales! 3. Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve 4. L Anse aux Meadows historical Park {where the Vikings presumably built a colony} 5. The view of the city of St. Johns from Signal Hill. Actually, I'm having a hard time stopping at just five. You'll have a great trip!

Don't miss the NFLD Museum of Incest, Pedophilia and Congenital Handicaps.

I have been to Newfoundland three times. My top five in no particular order:
1) Cape St. Marys for all those gannets up close and personal.
2) Witless bay for all those puffins. Good for whales too.
3) St. John's- a very civilized city.
4) Gros Morne for the great scenery and hiking.
5) South-east coast of Labrador for the sense of being so far from everything.

Unless you have a lot of time don't try to see the whole island in one visit. Newfoundland should not be rushed.

1. Cape Spear on a stormy day any season 2. Signal Hill by day and then by night St. John's 3. Salvage-"the prettiest outport in Newfoundland", though you'd get an argument from about 30 other communities 4. Lanse aux Meadows 5. Cape St. Mary's when the birds are circling
