Tofino Trip
In June we will be traveling to Tofino for 6 nights. We are coming from the San Francisco Bay Area and probably would not to do the drive from Nanaimo to Tofino. Flying into Seattle is the cheapest but flights to Tofino from there are expensive and very limited. From Vancouver to Tofino is cheaper, but flights to Vancouver from Bay Area are high. Anyone have any experience with this? What about ferries?

Why are you against driving? The road isn't that bad and you will have more flexibility if you have a car with you when you get to Tofino. The ferry from Seattle only goes to Victoria, so you still have to get north to Tofino.

I responded to your other post on the same topic.

OK-so if we drive...where from? Fly into where?

It's an 8+ hour drive from Seattle, and about a 5+ hour drive from either Victoria or Vancouver. Time vs. money, as I said in my other post ;-). |
Fly to Vancouver, get rental car, ferry to Naniamo, drive to Tofino. Or fly through Vancouver to Tofino. Sort of depends on how much time you have, but Tofino is isolated and these are your only two choices. If you have the time to spare, the drive is quite lovely.

I believe the only planes to Tofino are float planes, which is why it is so expensive.
Drive. |
Actually, they're not--even Kenmore Air is going to be operating "regular" small planes when they start service this summer, not float planes.
But you've got the right idea--they are small planes which makes the service more expensive. |
