Tofino . . . and where else?

Planning ahead for a trip to Tofino (just the two of us - no children). Thinking about 4 nights at Middle Beach Lodge (Headlands unit) -- and would like to add two or three more nights someplace else in the area. We aren't interested in Victoria this time around. We're more interested in nature tours, local culture, water vews, etc. Is April Point a good option? Names of specific accommodations would be greatly appreciated.

Planning ahead for early Sept 2008.

In that case, I'd highly recommend looking into Knight Inlet Lodge for grizzly bear and orca viewing. I went in early Oct a few years ago and it was AMAZING. Not an inexpensive experience and the lodge is pretty rustic but it's wonderful.

If you would enjoy an upscale camping experience, the Bedwell Outpost at Clayoquot Wilderness Resort near Tofino would be a great choice (and a different enough experience from Tofino to make it worthwhile IMO)

April Point is fine but I was kind of underwhelmed by Quadra Island--I thought it was nice but not particularly remarkable, especially after having been to Tofino earlier in the trip.

And I would go for a single or duplex cabin at Middle Beach over the Headlands suite because of the hot tubs on the deck plus I like having a little more privacy and room to spread out but those Headlands suite is very nice.

Thanks for the suggestions. Part of the reason I'm planning so far ahead is because I wanted a particular unit at Middle Beach. Based on the reviews I read on tripadvisor I was looking at Headlands #30 or #31. If you have another unit to recommend (on the Beach side) -- it would be great if you could provide the unit #.

Both of the other places you recommend look wonderful but pricey indeed. Any more affordable options (ideally under $300 a night). Thanks.

Any of the cabins 53-58 are wonderful (particularly 55), and I also like the duplex cabins 46 and 47, although I don't think those have private hot tubs (but they may have added them since I was up there last).
