Toddler clothing for October weather?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated:

Travelling with 18mth old son through September and October
Unfamiliar with your level of cold weather and don't want our son to freeze
What do locals dress their children in over these months? including shoes and socks.
Trying to pack as light as possible!
Any suggestions on what to pack welcome as well as on kids shops in Vancouver if we need to purchase locally?

You could compare Vancouver and Victoria in September and October with New York or London during the same months. Early september can be short pants and t-Shirts, and late October can be wool sweaters, rain jackets, and rubber boots.

Assume rain, if only for parts of the day, in October.

British Columbia is huge. The farther north you get, the cooler, and if you are on the coast, the farther north, the wetter it gets.

Vancouver and Victoria have lots of places to buiy kids wet-cool weather clothes, at all price levels.

Agree with BAK. I would count on layers. Bring raingear and rubber boots, hat, and shoes for sure. There are many good quality second hand childrens stores here, so if you didnt bring enough you can easily find it for little expense.

And don't forget that weather will be cooler at higher elevations.

This post is tagged "(B.C.)"... and as BC is 1 1/3 times the size of Texas, spanning to the 60th parallel... I think more understanding as to just where you're GOing would help the big picture.

The only reference to "Vancouver" is to potentially available clothing stores... (of which I'm sure there are more than in, say, "100 Mile House")

Thank you,

Sorry I was not very specific. Spending time Vancouver and Vancouver Island over first 3 weeks in October.

live42day, you mentioned some good quality second hand stores...can you name a few?

I am a bit out of the game right now , but the two that I do know of are
Classy Kids Consignment in Kitsilano Vancouver on 10th Ave. Near Alma
and in Parksville. And Tiger Two, on 138 Middleton Ave. (downtown Parksville)
They are all over the place though.

Another thing would be to go to any Sears or Zellers store and the sales are always amazing and sometimes as cheap as used anyhow.
