Time between Montreal and Quebec City
I'm trying to decide whether to drive between these 2 cities or take the train. Can anyone tell me how long the drive would be and how long the train would take? I'm only going one way.
Thanks for your help. |
I drove it in mid-July. It takes about 3 hours. I think the train is the same amount of time. It was cheaper for me (traveling with my two children- 16 and 20) to rent a car, than it would have been for us to travel by train. It is an easy drive.

The train is a little longer (3h30), but you won't get caught in traffic in Montréal.
The bus is cheaper (53$ one way) and about the same time (3h15 if you take the express). Of course, the train is more confortable. If you don't have your own car, I suggest either the train or the bus. A car is an hassle in Montréal and Québec. However, it may become handy if you want to do side trips like the Île d'Orléans, the Montmorency falls of the quaint little villages along the Saint-Laurent between Trois-Rivières and Québec (the "Chemin du Roy" - www.lecheminduroy.com). |
Oups... Of course, I meant :
...the Montmorency falls OR the quaint little villages along the Saint-Laurent between Trois-Rivières and Québec (the "Chemin du Roy" - www.lecheminduroy.com). |
Thanks for the info.
