tadoussac-pointe riviere ferry

Google directions tells me to take the Tadoussac-Pointe Riviere ferry from Tadoussac to Bangor Maine. The ferry shows on the Google map. However, my 2008 Fodor's for Montreal and QC does not mention it. Also, googling it shows a St Simeon - Pointe Riviere ferry, but nothing from Tadoussac. Does anyone know if it exists and if so, how do I contact them? Thanks in advance.

Your post was a bit confusing as I wasn't familiar with Pointe Riviere and suspected that you meant Rivière-du-Loup.

I had a look at the Google directions which indeed show a ferry from Tadoussac to Rivière-du-Loup, but I'm not aware that any such ferry exists.

What you need to do is to take the Tadoussac-Baie-Ste-Catherine ferry (free) and then head along Hwy 138 to Saint-Siméon. From there take the ferry to Rivière-du-Loup and then proceed as directed by Google directions.

You will find full details of both ferries on the website that Minogami cited.

Hi JCBD

If you're heading north from Quebec City by the most direct route, the ferry across from Baie Ste. Catherine is what you'll be taking. I wouldn't concern yourself too much with this... essentially you'll get to the Saguenay River, wait your turn and cross on a first-come first-serve basis. When we did this a few years back, we were on the first ferry that came with plenty of room to spare. I wouldn't worry especially about crowds; the population density has really thinned out at this point (I found the demographic shift quite interesting compared to Quebec City: there were far more First Nations people on our ferry than Quebecois de Souche).

Enjoy your trip! Daniel
