Suggestions of a place to stay in Vancouver, BC?
Hi, we love Vancouver and go frequently for a weekend visit overnight. We would like to find a place, preferably a short-term rental with a kitchen rather than a hotel, so we could stay longer. does anyone have suggestions? I have checked VRBO and Airbnb.com but nothing stood out as a place for our small family of 3 with a 4-year old. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Too bad you haven't had luck with airbnb or VRBO - they're my usual go-tos for the sort of accommodation you're looking for. Have you looked at craigslist as well?
When my parents moved to Vancouver for work about 7 years ago they initially stayed at a hotel/short term apartment rental called the Lord Stanley. It was in Coal Harbour, a stone's throw from Stanley Park. The building was full of 1 bedroom suites - full kitchen, living area with pull-out couch and bedroom. Would definitely be a good size for your small family. However, I'm not sure what the rates are like there.
Not sure if you'd be interested in traveling this way, but I enjoy hostelling with my kids (3 and almost 6). With a hostel you've got access to extensive kitchen facilities and can get a private room for your family. Living in Vancouver, I've never actually stayed in one of the hostels here, so I can't give specific recommendations.
