Suggestions for a Sunday lunch in Toronto
 

I'm arranging a Sunday lunch in Toronto, and I'm drawing a blank.
Everywhere I think of, is a Sunday Brunch, and I don't want that.
Also, because it's during the Toronto Film Festival, I'm thinking of perhaps up around Yorkdale.. Parking might be a problem downtown, and many of us are coming from out of town.
Actually anywhere along the 401 would be good, from Bayview to , say, Dufferin.
NOt too expensive, ...something like Milestones would be good.

Any ideas? I need help soon. I've left it too long.

Hi, Kodi - I was just thinking of Bayview Village. I think Sierra Grill, which is just outside of the mall itself, does a nice lunch; I don't know if they have brunch on Sundays but even if they do, their salad bar is fantastic and it would probably be available.

I really like the looks of it, and I'm sure everyone else will too.

After an opera recently, the cast went to Marche, in the York Mills Plaza at the corner of Bayview and York Mills.

The downside is that you do a lot of schlepping around, rather than sitting down and enjoying your conversation.

But what fun's being out in the sticks?

I'd suggest going down to the Hot House Cafe, at Church and Front.

If you change your mind about the Sierra Grill for some reason, try Bersani and Carlevale also at Bayview Village. I've had about a million lunches and dinners there and always enjoyed them. They have an excellent non-dairy mushroom soup.

There's also a nice Pickle Barrel at Yorkdale (downstairs, near the Bay).

BAK. I actually called the Hot House Cafe , but they only do brunch on Sunday.
THen I had the brain wave to be up closer to the 401.

Hdm, I was interested in Bersani and Carlevale, but when I clicked on their web site, my computer locked up. Then I was afraid to try it again, so went to the Sierra Grill's web site.
But it's good to know how good it is. I'll keep it in mind.

Kodi, I think you'll like the Sierra Grill. Their salad bar really is unbelieveable. We try to get there for lunch during our Toronto visits because we have friends who live in the area and that's easier for them than coming downtown. I don't know that we would make the trip up there otherwise, but we do enjoy it when we go. The salad bar is really more of a cold buffet (plus a couple of kinds of soup) than a salad bar - very extensive and varied and yummy.

We have also ordered off the menu occasionally and haven't been disappointed.

Hi Meesthare, I know you'll be in the area soon, but unfortunately not soon enough for our Toronto GTG. It's on Sept 12 at Hot House Cafe downtown. If your plans change we'll be there.

As for Sierra Grill, the salad bar sounds great. I'll recommend it to the others. IT's actually another travel group I belong to and the Toronto area members meet every once in awhile. It's always great to hear everyone's travel stories.
