A Google search indicates it's on the land of the Blood First Nation. It's 50 minutes SW of Lethbridge, 30 minutes south of Fort Macleod, and 30 minutes north of Cardston.

Waterton Lakes National Park, with lots of beautiful mountain hiking, is SW of there.

In Lethbridge there are the Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens.

Cardston is home to an impressive Mormon Temple and the Remington Carriage Museum.

In Fort Macleod there is the Fort Museum.

Between Fort Macleod and Pincher Creek there is the Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump Interpretive Centre.

A bit west of Pincher Creek there is Frank Slide Interpretive Centre.

When I did a Google search for accommodation in Standoff, I didn't find anything. Perhaps you could stay in Fort Macleod or Cardston or even in Waterton Lakes National Park.

You are getting excellent advice from Judy. I have visited the area several times, but she lives in Calgary and knows the territory.

I think you will like Waterton Park. There is quite a bit to see and do there.

In terms of accommodations, I have stayed in the Flamingo Motel in Cardston. It was acceptable.

The motels in Waterton townsite are perhaps better but also they are more expensive.

The carriage museum in Cardston is worth a visit if that type of historical entity interests you. I have been through it twice, and thought it very interesting and informative about a bygone era.

The other attractions in the area are also interesting, such as the big slide near Crows' Nest Pass and the buffalo jump.

Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump is a must! It has won several architectural awards.

If you do go around the surrounding area don't miss Waterton Lakes National Park - the scenery is beautiful and there is alot of hiking from very easy to difficult. If you go to Waterton and don't mind a bit of a drive (about 2 - 2 1/2 hrs from there), visit Writing on Stone Provincial Park - the hoodoos are a marvel and u can walk all through them.
