spas in Vancouver

Going to Vancouver in August, anyone have a suggestion for a spa there? Looking for the unique experience, staying at the Opus, any suggestions close to Yaletown.
Thanks!

Lucky, lucky you! If you go to the
Opus website you'll find a link to
the Miraj Hamman - a Turkish spa
close to the hotel.....it's been
open for 2 years or so and evidently
it's just fabulous.

Try Skoah - a trendy place in Yaletown (www.skoah.com)

Lots of models and actors go to the Absolute Spa at the Century Plaza Hotel on Burrard Street (www.absolutespa.com) which you could walk to from your hotel. It doesn't look like much on the outside but is commonly regarded as one of the city's best.

I haven't been to Skoah but I can very enthusiastically second llamalady's sugestion of the Miraj Hammam. Opened by a Morrocan-born woman who lives half the year in Paris and now the other half in Vancouver, it is a fabulous, decadent treat. My San Franciscan sister-in-law who has spent the better half of the last 20 years travelling on business in the U.S. and is an ardent spa-goer, rates the Miraj as one of her very favourites.

I'm envious - enjoy!

good information - this was my next question - my recent Momentum magazine highlights Vancouver and they have a quick cheatsheet of things to do, places to go, stuff to see, etc. Most of these spas were mentioned!

Flygirl, I swear I'm not following you... but for a unique experience, Miraj Hammam hands down.

My sister just spent a spa day at Skoah, and really enjoyed it. To me it sounds a little clinical (no "whale" music, as my sister said) but she was a-raving!

Cheers,
Linda

One other suggestion:
Beverly's The Spa on Fourth is in Kitsilano and a high-end neighbourhood place with excellent treatments and service (Dermalogica and Rene Guinot products, mostly). It is a very small space on 3 stories and very intimate - probably the opposite of Skoah.

They have lots of packages, even one that includes dinner at Bishop's restaurant, a Vancouver classic that is right next door.

It would be a great spot to go and discover Kits - something not alot of tourists do. Great shopping, cafe's and the beach close by.

Enjoy!
